Samara Metallurgical Plant to Install Modern Melting and Casting Complex

SMZ is launching a new project to increase production capacity. To boost the output of aluminium strip, the enterprise will install a modern melting and casting complex that meets global standards of quality and environmental performance.

Russia’s largest producer of aluminium semi-finished products — Samara Metallurgical Plant (JSC SMZ) — is launching a new project to expand production capacity. To increase the output of aluminium strip, the plant will install a modern melting and casting complex that complies with international quality and environmental standards. Total investment is estimated at more than 1.6 billion rubles. The new equipment will provide an additional annual output of approximately 65,000 tonnes of flat ingots required for the production of high-quality aluminium strip. The project is scheduled for implementation in 2025–2027 and forms part of the plant’s comprehensive modernisation and expansion programme.

At Samara Metallurgical Plant, site preparation for the construction of the new complex has already begun. Completion of the project is expected within the next two years.
