AKS Plant Develops and Conducts First Tests of Robot Manipulator for Casting
At AKS Plant, the first tests of the AKS-50 robotic complex, designed to automate the creation of ceramic shell molds, have been successfully completed.
This complex opens new horizons for foundry production, significantly increasing productivity and the quality of the manufactured products. The AKS-50 is designed to handle molds with dimensions up to 1,000 × 900 mm and weighing up to 70 kg.
The complex offers flexible configuration for various tasks — from full automation to semi-automatic operation — making it a universal solution for different production needs. The presented configuration includes a robot manipulator, two rain-type sand dispensers, two slurry tanks, and a 40-position conveyor.
During the tests, the AKS-50 demonstrated high precision and stability in applying layers, which directly affects the quality of the resulting ceramic shell molds. The cycle time for applying one layer ranges from 2.5 to 5 minutes, depending on the complexity of the model geometry and quality requirements. The system also provides for the integration of machine vision with artificial intelligence, which will further enhance the precision and speed of the complex.
AKS Plant continues to develop innovative solutions for the foundry industry, and the AKS-50 is another important step in this direction.
AKS Plant has been operating since 1994 as a Russian manufacturer of precision casting and foundry equipment. Specializing in lost-wax casting (LVM) and lost-foam casting (LGM) technologies, the plant produces castings of any complexity level — from drawings, mold development, and pattern production to the finished product.
The plant’s design and production division develops and supplies the following types of equipment:
- Lost-foam casting (LGM) lines and auxiliary equipment
- Lost-wax casting (LVM) equipment
- Casting cutoff machines
- Machines for cutting aluminum and copper plates
Over the years of producing foundry equipment, we have commissioned more than 50 plants in Russia, the CIS countries, and Japan, and modernized more than 100 enterprises to increase productivity and product quality.
AKS Plant is a traditional participant in the Metallurgy/Litmash.Russia’2025 exhibition, which will be held on May 26–28 at the Timiryazev Centre in Moscow.
